Recently I’ve been looking into some web hosting for a new ASP.Net website idea I’ve been toying with for a while. However while researching potential hosts every time I google reviews the majority of them are negative. This leaves me with the question; do people only go to these sites to “review” their host when they have something bad to say? Is it just a public forum for unsatisfied clients to bitch and moan, or do people actually write positive reviews when there is something good to say?

Just for the hell of it, I searched for a few reviews of my current (linux based) host, which I’ve never had a major issue with, and again the vast majority of the reviews were negative. This furthers my belief that people only post to these sites when they have something bad to say.

Does anyone have any experience with this; either posting a review, working/running a hosting company, and so on. Also, does anyone have a Windows web host they’d recommend? Shoot me an email and let me know.

The Bears season hasn’t been so hot this year (they are now 5-6) but at least there is something entertaining to watch with them.

Chicago WR/PR/KR Devin Hester. Hester is mocking history. The record for touchdowns on kickoff-returns and punt-returns, for now, belongs to Brian Mitchell, who scored 13 combined returns in 223 career games. Hester, after an 88-yard kick return and a 75-yard kickoff return for scores in the same quarter against Denver, now has 11 touchdowns on kickoff- and punt-returns in 27 career games. He is simply amazing. You can count on two fingers the number of times he was touched by a tackler on those two returns.

I’ve been working on a Protrade stock tracker in my spare time.  I don’t have any up to date screen shots at the moment, but I’d like to think it is coming along nicely.  If anyone would be interesting in knowing when I have it available for download, shoot me an email.  Also if there are any features you’d like to see in it let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

The title is just a little advice for those who I’m sure need it as the apparently both lack basic living skills. “Who?” you ask? Why Britney and K-Fed of course!

I always knew they were messed up, but I never realized how much a bunch of hicks Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were. I just saw this on CNN.

What really caught my attention was this line: “Gordon also told both parents to avoid alcohol or “other non-prescription controlled substances” 12 hours before taking custody of the children.”

No shit? You mean it’s OK to do drugs and be loaded when the kiddies aren’t around? Sounds like both of them need the parenting 101 class…

Another good excerpt: “He also barred the exes from making “derogatory remarks about the other party and the other party’s family or significant other” during the case. And he ordered the parents to go through “joint co-parenting counseling” and barred them from using corporal punishment on the boys.”

You know you’re a bitter hate filled halfwit if the judge has to tell you to shut the hell up about his new skank-ass girlfriend.

From time to time I’ll post my Protrade analysis… I’ve got an application to search through teams & athletes to find the best values (athletes whose earnings are closest to their market price) and/or those with earnings exceeding their current market price. For now I’ve got the top 10 MLB athletes whose earnings are closest to their market prices. When the NFL season begins I will start posting my NFL athlete breakdowns…

CNN Story

There are bad ideas; then there’s making a TV show based on characters in a bad commercial. The cavemen are not even remotely entertaining; hopefully this is one idea that doesn’t make it as a show.

I hate some of those stupid CAPTCHA things…  I understand the point 100% and if the site uses it and it keeps spammers and other undesirables out find.  I even use the “do you know basic math” CAPTCHA-type feature on this site.  But what I don’t like is when they obscure the text so much you can’t even figure out what the hell the text is.  I’ve seen this on some Microsoft sites where the text is so twisted, and then all these random squiggles are placed in the image as well…  I have no idea what it says, I must have clicked the “next” button or tried and failed about six times before I was finally able to login to a site.  I was even questioning that I had the correct user id/password after a while…

I downloaded the Paperboy demo on XBOX Live Arcade tonight. I remember hating the game when I was younger, but tonight I thought to myself “it couldn’t have been that bad.” Wow, I was so right to hate that game back then. Aside from the cheesy computer voices in it, the game is terrible, even for an old school game like that. It’s just bad. The controls suck, the idea is stupid and it all adds up to one craptastic game. I even remember hating the controls back then.

I also downloaded the Root Beer Tapper demo… Now there’s a game! I like it enough to entertain me those couple minutes between getting off XBOX Live and before I turn off the system, but not enough to buy it. The game is mildly amusing however and infinitely better than that crappy Paperboy game.

Is this really that big of a surprise?  Didn’t anyone else see that documentary “Alien vs. Predator”?  That movie already exposed the existence of ancient ruins beneath the Antarctica, why should anyone be surprised that there would be lakes as well?  That’s right, they shouldn’t.  I think every Antarctica discovery has been less shocking after they found that Stargate down there…
